South Coast Farms Community Supported Agricultural (CSA) program was established in 2000 by farmer George Kibby and our farm manager Rebecca Noble. For those of you who are not familiar with the CSA concept we here at South Coast Farms like to describe it as a partnership between a food grower (George) and a food consumer (such as yourself)! Generally the partnership is between a local organic farm and a community of supporters that together wish to preserve the agricultural life and heritage of their community as well as guarantee for themselves a reliable, healthy and safe source of food.

CSA’s were originally created by a group of  food consumers who were concerned about their food's safety. They were striving to avoid the ambiguity and uncertainty of how or where their foods were grown. Thus the CSA was born! And now you too can know with certainty where and how your food is grown. Our baskets are comprised on average of 75% locally grown foods. What we cannot grow due to geographical constraints we source from other local diversified organic farms. You are not only supporting our farm but the 5 others that we work with!

Our members may receive a large or regular size basket of seasonal organic foods once a week or bi-weekly. A regular basket averages about 15-20 different items and a large averages about 17-22 items. The Large baskets also include more of certain items. Members may pick up the basket from the farm or at one of our 12 drop-off locations throughout Orange County.

CSA Policies

1) Your CSA commitment lasts for one season and prepayment is required before your basket delivery begins.

2) If you are unable to pick-up our basket at your designated location on your designated day, it is your responsibility to have a friend or family member do so. Any unclaimed baskets will be donated at the discretion of the site host. Refunds are not available for unclaimed baskets.

The benefits to our members are many. Access to the freshest local foods. Often our foods are harvested the day of or the day before your baskets are made. Quality organic foods. You can rest assured that all of your foods are 100% organic! Flavorful food varieties. Much of our foods are selected for production based on flavor not shelf life. Community building and beautification. Being a member of our CSA helps bring you deeper into our South Orange County community. You are able to connect with like-minded people and enjoy a handful of social events hosted by SCF such as our October festival, strawberry picking day and potlucks. By keeping us in business you are also preserving open green spaces, staving off further development and over crowding. Your support also helps maintain what remains of Orange County’s farm heritage. We are one of three organic farms that remain in Orange County. Thank you for your support.
